Games for Hunger help feed communities

Lorri Walker with the USW Local 444 Women of Steel looked towards the sky on Saturday as the 13th Games for Hunger were getting underway in the Hy-Vee Parking lot. There were some showers early in the event on Saturday, but in the end, the weather wasn’t all that bad.

Walker worried that the threat of rain could keep some people away from the yearly event that helps support area food pantries through donation of food from attendees, as well as from proceeds of the silent auction.

She said she was thankful once again for the participation from various groups for the event. They had some vehicles and a few members of the local National Guard unit on site, talking to kids and letting them sit inside the impressive pieces of equipment…
