Two local volleyball teams had their seasons come to an end Monday, as the Highland Huskies fell to North Cedar and the WACO Warriors lost to Burlington Notre Dame in the first round of the Class 1A Region 2 tournament.
Highland dropped the first set at home 25-17, and while they bounced back to take the second frame 25-22, North Cedar edged them out in the third set 25-22 and would clip the Huskies again to win the fourth set 25-23 and take the match.
Despite the loss, sophomore Hailey Brun still had a double-double for Highland with a team-high 10 kills and 15 digs. Senior Adeline Krotz added eight kills and one blocked shot, while freshman Ava Sexton had six kills, two blocks and two serving aces…
