Nauvoo 8th Annual Scarecrow Festival gets underway

The much-anticipated eighth annual Scarecrow Festival, sponsored by the Nauvoo Betterment Association (NBA), kicks off on Sept. 28. Dozens of homemade scarecrows will line up both sides of Mulholland Street from the bank to the City Center.

Local residents and artists are invited to put their own scarecrow on display and compete for awards. They can pick up a registration form at the Nauvoo Public Library or City Hall. The registration deadline is noon, Oct. 3, to be eligible for judging.

This year there will be three award categories: “Best Crow in Show,” “Best Crow Critter” (both will be chosen by a panel of judges), and again this year “The People’s Choice” to be chosen through voting on the Scarecrow Festival Facebook page. As the NBA continues to promote Natural Nauvoo, the Best Critter can be any animal, bird or fish that might be found in the Nauvoo area…
