New signs limit resource distributions in downtown park area in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. — City of Greensboro officials have put up signs that state that distributions are no longer allowed in the downtown park area, and they said it is due to pedestrian safety and waste management concerns.

“Since we got the Hope Center two years ago, we’ve been trying to advocate others who are serving downtown to come and utilize the facility here at the Hope Center to serve a meal or do bible service or any kind of thing that they are wanting to do,” said Scott Jones, Executive Director of Tiny House Community Development/Hope Center.

The Hope Center is one of the organizations the city has listed as an alternative location for people to distribute food and resources.

“Signs started going up that encourage individuals who want to distribute things to the homeless population to come to the Hope Center.”…
