Pittsburgh Fugitive Arrested After Attempt to Evade Capture in Hazelwood

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — A Pittsburgh man wanted for multiple offenses, including an assault in McKeesport, was taken into custody earlier today, the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Ramone Thomas, 37, had been on the run for the past 30 days after failing to appear for a sentencing hearing on July 18, 2024. The hearing was related to a guilty plea Thomas had entered before Judge Caulfield on a charge of driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

In addition to the bench warrant issued for his failure to appear, Thomas was also wanted on three active warrants from the McKeesport Police Department. Two of these warrants involve charges of aggravated assault, including an incident outside the Midtown Plaza Apartments where the victim sustained a traumatic brain injury. The third warrant relates to terroristic threats made against the mother of his two children…
