American Values Luncheon raises funds for Northwest Georgia Council of Scouting America

Attorney and author Wade Monk’s address to the American Values Luncheon on Friday perfectly encapsulated the reason dozens of Rome residents were gathered at Coosa Country Club on Friday afternoon.

The American Values Luncheon is an annual fundraiser for the Northwest Georgia Council of Scouting America and Monk’s keynote address entertained and inspired. He took guests back to 1965 in the humid and dark back woods of South Georgia where, as a 14-year-old scout, he helped induct younger boys into the Order of the Arrow, a solemn and dramatic ceremony.

His story was entertaining but it was just a precursor to his message: that scouting truly prepared him life. It gave him an unshakable foundation for the future. And for success…
