Three Arrested Following Tire-Slashing Spree and Shooting Episode in Thousand Oaks

Thousand Oaks has recently been the scene of a disturbing crime wave that included tire slashing and dangerous gunfire, leading to the arrest of three individuals. Early on Oct. 6, residents of Chiquita Lane were startled awake by the sound of their vehicle tires being methodically destroyed. According to KTLA, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office disclosed that when two bystanders took it upon themselves to chase the suspects, they were met with gunfire from a white sedan associated with the suspects.

The chase that unfolded involved several U-turns and ended with the suspects’ vehicle facing the witnesses’, at which point, the suspects fired several shots. “The suspects then fled the area,” the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office stated in a release cited by FOX LA. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries.

The suspects were identified as Thousand Oaks residents; 36-year-old Jimmy Cruz, 38-year-old Layla Hamideh, and 18-year-old Michael Fay. As per the authorities’ release, which was reported by Nixle, Cruz now faces two counts of attempted murder among other charges, with his current residence being the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Center under a $700,000 bail. Hamideh, who was apprehended during a traffic stop with a “ghost gun” within reach of her juvenile passengers, was released on a $50,000 bail. Fay, the youngest of the trio, was booked on charges of felony vandalism and conspiracy to commit a crime; he has since been released after posting $40,000 bail…
