Christopher Poore, of Bridgeton, was heading east on Route 40 when he struck Allen Miller Jr., 45, near milepost 20.5 in Pittsgrove around 3 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, New Jersey State Police said. Poore then fled the scene.
Miller, who police said was from Vineland, was killed as a result of the crash. His obituary on the Adams Funeral Home website says he was a 1998 graduate of Schalick High School who went on to serve in the United States Navy during the War in Afghanistan from 2001 to 2005.
