‘Chrismukkah’ brings together Christmas, Hanukkah traditions in Pittsburgh

For Rabbi Daniel Fellman, Wednesday is a day to celebrate.

That day, Christians will gather around the tree to open presents while celebrating the birth of Jesus. But that night, the Jewish community will light the first candle on their menorahs.

This year, Christmas and the first night of Hanukkah fall on the same day, an occurrence that has only happened four times since 1900, Hebacal, which tracks Jewish holidays, found. And the next time the two holidays will fall on the same day is in 2035, then again in 2054…
