Route 30 closed after car crashes into utility pole, knocks down power lines in North Versailles

NORTH VERSAILLES, Pa. — Route 30 was closed to traffic on Thursday after a car crashed into a utility pole and knocked down a power line, resulting in outages for many Duquesne Light customers.

The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy spotted a vehicle on Route 48 that was wanted after a carjacking in McKeesport and tried to get the car to stop, but the driver took off and turned onto Route 30.

“Our deputy at that point activated lights and siren in order to pull onto Route 30 and get behind suspect vehicle,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “After a few seconds, the suspect vehicle took off at a high rate of speed and our deputy deactivated his lights and siren and slowed down to normal speed.”…
