Steelers draft bust to make 2024 starting debut in crucial Week 17 game

The Pittsburgh Steelers decided to end the Kenny Pickett experiment during the offseason and traded the former first-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles in a deal that also saw the two teams swap draft picks.

Pickett was the No. 20 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and started 24 games for the Steelers over two seasons. While he wasn’t exactly in an ideal situation, Pickett did himself no favors and failed to prove he was the long-term solution.

Pittsburgh went in a different direction and signed Russell Wilson and traded for Justin Fields, and both have proven to be upgrades over Pickett. Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh product has served as Jalen Hurts’ backup with the Eagles…
