WOOSTER ― Dubbed the Mount Union Boom, Weston Arthur put himself in the national spotlight with a thunderous hit.
On Oct. 12, the Purple Raiders junior and Northwestern High alumnus blew up a play in the backfield against Wilmington College. Arthur blitzed perfectly and wrapped up Kai Smith in a collision that knocked off Smith’s helmet and is still reverberating across social media.
“That wasn’t the normal path that I’d take on a blitz,” said Arthur. “But they had been running that play a bunch and coming into the second half, we knew what we wanted to do. I read the play based on formation, (Smith) was on my side and as I was racing in, I could see the quarterback even wincing before I even got to Smith.”…
