Irish shake off slow start to beat No. 15 Louisville 31-24

NOTRE DAME — Notre Dame got off to the worst start imaginable. The Irish turned it over on the very first play, and after a minute and a half, were trailing 7-0.

From that point on however, Notre Dame was clearly the better football team. The Irish made big plays in all three facet of the game, taking back the momentum in the first quarter on offense and the defense never allowed Louisville to steal it back, on way to picking up a win over the number 15 team in the country.

“Obviously wasn’t perfect as everybody saw, but you find a way to get it done when it matters most,” Marcus Freeman said following the win. “Defense had to go out there and prevent them from scoring that last drive. A lot of confidence. I know the game gets close, but we have a lot of confidence in our defense. It’s why I’m so aggressive as a coach on fourth down. You got a lot of confidence in your defense. You know, I’m proud of them.”…
