Delays expected on Route 39

NEW PHILADELPHIA − Paving will begin Tuesday along East High Avenue as part of the ongoing bike lane project from state Route 39 to University Drive. Flaggers will direct traffic during this work.

Given the heavy traffic in this area, the Ohio Department of Transportation is asking motorists to consider alternate routes or to allow for extra travel time until the work is completed.

Weather permitting, the paving is expected to be completed by Nov. 10.Christmas on the Canal is Saturday

Christmas on the Canal

BOLIVAR – Christmas on the Canal will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday on Canal Street, beginning with the parade and Santa’s arrival. There will be craft making, goody bags, music, hayrides and train rides. Refreshments and T-shirts will be available for sale. Visit Santa and his elves at the Christmas House on Canal Street.

Living Library event is Saturday

DOVER – The fifth annual Living Library will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in the Dover Public Library’s community room, 525 N. Walnut St. This program allows people to connect and learn from each other. Nine people from the community have been invited to share their stories and experiences. They are historian Seth Angel, photographer Terry Barnhill, nonagenarian Shirley Edie Bitticker, forester Randy Clum, writer Lee Elliott, collector of funeral memorabilia John Herzig, business owner David Jones, basketeer Don Maurer, and real estate entrepreneur Kathy Pietro.
