Ticket holders to Ticket to the Past–Unforgettable Journeys can become immersed in history through virtual reality as they experience the unforgettable journeys of historic figures and learn their connections to the station during and after the Battle of Gettysburg. With the help of virtual reality technology, visitors can travel back to 1863 when the railroad station served as Gettysburg’s first field hospital, a supply lifeline, and a presidential arrival platform. Guests will meet some unlikely occupants, hear their stories and discover the extraordinary impact the station made on their lives. Historic figures featured in the experience include nurse Cornelia Hancock, soldier and musician Eli Blanchard and Gettysburg resident Basil Biggs. Visitors will also get a glimpse of President Lincoln’s arrival at Gettysburg for the dedication of the National Cemetery when he delivered his iconic Gettysburg Address.
Ticket to the Past–Unforgettable Journeys closes annually on Thanksgiving Day. The virtual reality experience will close for the winter months of January and February 2025, and is expected to reopen for the spring season in March 2025…
