Police investigating laser strikes on planes at Harrisburg International Airport

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — The Highspire Borough Police Department is investigating multiple complaints from the Harrisburg International Airport of lasers being pointed at airplanes on Tuesday.

According to police, traffic controllers at HIA reported lasers being pointed at planes from one mile north of the tower. Police say pointing a laser at an aircraft is considered a federal crime, punishable by up to five years of imprisonment.
