Two Carlisle High School students honored for saving choking victim

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — Penn State Health recognized two Carlisle High School students on Tuesday for their heroic actions in saving a choking victim during a school craft fair.

Elsa Riesmeyer and Julien Mastrangelo were honored with the Penn State Health Student Hero Award.

The students were recently trained in the Heimlich Maneuver by a member of the Trauma Services Team at Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center. They used their new skills to dislodge food and restore the victim’s ability to breathe…
