A hearing to determine whether the 259-unit Seaside Ridge project can be built in Del Mar has been pushed back to June, while the city and developer are still waiting for a Court of Appeal ruling on a similar case in Los Angeles.
The owner of a North Bluff property in Del Mar has been at an impasse with the city’s Planning Department over Seaside Ridge for more than two years.
The petition filed in February 2024 by property owner Carol Lazier argues that the city has to proceed with the Seaside Ridge application under the Builder’s Remedy, a state law that allows new development to supersede local zoning laws if the city doesn’t have a state-certified housing element.
