Strong fall storm on the way next week

Record heat will return to parts of New Mexico Sunday and Monday afternoon. A storm system moves in Tuesday, bringing in much colder air by next Wednesday.

Temperatures are cooler all across New Mexico Friday afternoon thanks to a cold front early this morning. The biggest drop in temperatures have been across eastern New Mexico, where highs are over 20° cooler in some places compared to Thursday. It will be a chilly and cool night across the state, but a warming trend starts on Saturday. This will culminate with more record high temperatures Sunday afternoon.

More record high temperatures are likely Monday afternoon for central and southern parts of New Mexico, but cooler air will start moving into the Four Corners region as a storm system approaches the state. A couple spotty showers and mountain snow will even be possible by Monday evening in northwest New Mexico and southwest Colorado…
