Man charged with committing 2 Red Line robberies in December was convicted of another CTA robbery in 2023

Chicago cops have arrested one of four men responsible for mugging passengers on the Red Line in December, according to a CPD media statement. Records show the man was convicted in 2023 of committing another robbery at the Roosevelt CTA station downtown.

Jemaal Muhammad, 20, of DeKalb, is charged with three counts of robbery after police arrested him in the first block of South State Street on Tuesday. His arrest came on the same day that mass transit detectives released surveillance images of the robbers and asked for help identifying them.

CPD said Muhammad was one of the men who mugged a 15-year-old boy on a train near 95th Street around 10:52 p.m. on December 29. Less than ten minutes later, he and his accomplices robbed a 44-year-old man on a train near 79th Street, police said…
