Carrollton Celebrates Completion of Rosemeade Recreation Center Expansion with Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony on November 6

Carrollton residents have reason to celebrate, as the long-awaited Rosemeade Recreation Center expansion has finally come to completion. A grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for November 6 at 6:30 p.m., marking the end of a project that’s been in the pipeline since its approval in the 2018 and 2022 bond elections. Heather Smith, Carrollton Recreation Manager, confirmed in a statement by the City of Carrollton, that the expansion was funded by “voter-approved money from the 2018 and 2022 bond elections”.

The new expansion spans 27,511 square feet and introduces several new facilities, including a full-size gym, meeting NCAA configurations. Adding to the project’s highlights are an elevated indoor walking track, a multi-purpose court, an esports room, as well as restroom, and storage area modifications. Despite the needed updates, parking at Rosemeade Dog Park will be temporarily limited due to the construction. The Rosemeade expansion originally was designed to consist of specific improvements, but the initiative blossomed to encompass additional features based partially on community input.

One particular feature of intrigue is the “Legacy in Motion” mural – it stretches 34 feet wide and 24 feet high, paying homage to Carrollton’s athletic history through an assortment of photographs from residents, local newspapers, high school yearbooks, and city archives.
