Car Crashes Into House After Fleeing From Police

SMITHFIELD – A Johnston County home sustained significant damage after it was struck by a speeding car.

Shortly after 7:00pm tonight (Tuesday), Wilson’s Mills Police attempted to stop a 2014 Nissan 370Z speeding 78 miles per hour in a 60 mile per hour zone, eastbound on US 70.

The driver failed to stop. Wilson’s Mills Police began pursuing the vehicle. Selma Police attempted to deploy stop sticks but were unsuccessful.

The chase reached speeds of 112 miles per hour east of Selma, then the driver turned off his headlights. Due to the suspect’s dangerous driving, police discontinued the chase.

Minutes later, an innocent motorist reporting being hit by the same vehicle just off US70 in the Brogden community. Officers converged on the area, and located the Nissan inside a vacant house on Creech’s Mill Road…
