Denver officer sentenced to community service for allegedly striking juvenile suspect

DENVER (KDVR) — A Denver Police Department officer was sentenced Monday to community service and probation for allegedly striking a juvenile suspect in 2023 .

According to the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Dat Truong was charged in January with a Class 1 misdemeanor of harassment for striking a juvenile who was reportedly in police custody at the time after an arrest near Interstate 225 and Colfax Avenue.

Denver Police Department issued a statement in January, noting that Truong was placed in a non-patrol assignment on Nov. 6, 2023, as the investigation began. The department said Truong will remain in that role while the case progresses through the courts…
