Eastern Iowa Christmas tree farms doing better than last year despite ongoing drought

ELY, Iowa (KCRG) – For Mike Banowetz, co-owner of Cedar’s Edge Evergreen Market, last year was tough.

“The seedlings that we put in last year, we lost, I’m going to say probably right around 98, 99 percent of the seedlings that we plant.” he said.

Because each sapling was so new, their roots weren’t big enough to pull enough water to sustain them…
