Hawkeye Community College planning to expand at TechWorks building

WATERLOO — Hawkeye Community College is looking at purchasing the third floor of the Cedar Valley TechWorks building.

That would allow for expansion of HCC’s Automation and Robotics Center, now located on the second floor of TechWorks, a former John Deere manufacturing facility at 360 Westfield Ave. The expansion area would be used as classroom space for the training facility, according to Mary Pat Moore, Hawkeye spokeswoman.

The 20,000-square-foot center opened in 2023 following a $5.1 million renovation project. It is designed to train workers in new manufacturing technologies and fields like industrial maintenance.
