Pair of runners up lead the way for NFV girls at Oelwein

It was a big day for the TigerHawk girls’ wrestling program as NFV was one of 19 teams to compete at the Oelwein Invitational on Saturday. With a pair of runners-up, NFV posted 111.5 points to place sixth as Macy Rose (100) and Brielle Starkweather (105) paved the way at the lower weight classes.

Rose had three pins and a tech fall on the day as her only loss came to No. 8-ranked Kennedy Bachman of MFL/MarMac. For Starkweather, it was a similar day as she recorded a pair of falls in the preliminary rounds before falling to Elizabeth Renshaw of Cedar Rapids Kennedy in the finals.

The TigerHawks closed out the busy week of action with a sixth-place finish as Class 2A’s CR Kennedy took the team title with 184.5 points…
