Last year Iowa’s offense struggled to do much of anything with Brian Ferentz calling the plays and Deacon Hill being completely inept at executing them, and yet they still found a way to win 7 of their last 8 games, including a win over a Wisconsin team that was struggling to implement a new offensive system under a 1t year HC (it didn’t help that their big time transfer QB busted his thumb on a Hawkeye helmet and had to leave the game in the hands of an untested Sophomore. Flip the page to 2024 and both Bucky and Herky have figured out how to move the ball and put up points. Neither team is going to set any records, but for two teams that finished in the lower 1⁄3 of scoring offenses last year (WI – 93, IA – 132), they’ve made substantial improvements (WI – 79, IA – 57), and with two stout defenses taking the field at Kinnick Saturday night, it should be quite the matchup.
