Iowa Football announced the addition of South Dakota State transfer Bryce Hawthorne on Saturday. The defensive lineman chose the Hawkeyes ahead of reported offers from Fresno State, North Texas, Coastal Carolina, San Diego State, Miami (OH), Texas State and James Madison since he entered the portal on Dec. 30.
Hawthorne joined fellow D-Lineman Jonah Pace and Hank Brown, a quarterback, as part of Iowa’s 2025 transfer class. The Hawkeyes played host to Hawthorne’s SDSU teammate, quarterback Mark Gronowski, on Friday.
After redshirting as a true freshman in 2022, Hawthorne appeared in 17 games the last two seasons. That included all 14 contests this past Fall, during which he produced 5.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks…
