Messamaker, Gronewold showcased at Williamsburg Invitational

Williamsburg – The Big Reds were back in action on September 16 when they competed in the Williamsburg Invitational. They faced familiar foes, including Grinnell, Oskaloosa and Vinton-Shellsburg. By the end of the meet, Centerville accumulated 71 points to finish in fifth place, 17 points behind Vinton-Shellsburg in fourth.

Among those who competed, a pair of Albia swimmers stood out in their respective events. Breanna Messamaker finished 11th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:52.70 and Christa Gronewold clocked in at 40.62 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle, cutting down her time by over half a second. Brynn Clark continued to lead the team, placing sixth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 29.35 seconds, earning nine team points. Clark also competed in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing at 1:07.00 to place fifth, earning 10 team points.

“We had a great team meet. Our relays dropped times as well as many of our individual events,” Centerville coach Amber White noted. “Brynn is still holding her own in the 50 and 100 Free and will need to take the next few weeks and push herself in practice.”…
