Celebration of Women’s in Sports takes place at Gettysburg

On Monday, the Gettysburg Department of Athletics sponsored the inaugural Celebration of Women in Sport. This two-hour event took place outside of Masters Hall, beginning at 5 p.m.

Members of the women’s soccer, softball, cross country, track and field, basketball, lacrosse and field hockey teams had tables set up with interactive activities, posters, and information about their sport, team, and success. Women’s club rugby and Amanda Blaugher from the Office of Sexual Respect and Title IX also had tables.

The event was designed by two current Gettysburg athletes, Caitlin Rubsamen and Danielle Fritchman, with the help of their mentor, Katie McAllister, an assistant coach for the women’s lacrosse team. Rubsamen is a member of the field hockey team while Fritchman participates on the cross country and track and field teams. The two were selected to attend the Snell-Shillingford Symposium – an annual event by the Centennial Conference – that took place on Oct. 12-13 at Johns Hopkins…
