BALTIMORE — Maryland residents could save hundreds on their utility bills through an existing but little-known state program, officials say.
The Empower Maryland program, established in 2008, requires utility companies to offer energy-saving initiatives that many customers don’t realize they’re already funding through their monthly bills, according to the Maryland Office of People’s Counsel.
