Former WakeMed nurse charged with stealing fentanyl IV bag in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A former WakeMed Hospital employee is charged with stealing fentanyl from the hospital.

Kellianne Erin McGuire is charged with embezzling/diverting a controlled substance by registrant/employee and obtaining possession of a controlled substance by fraud/forgery.

According to charging documents, McGuire was a registered nurse working at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh at the time of the incident. Charging documents report she embezzled 2500 mL of fentanyl from an IV bag. The theft is alleged to have happened on Oct. 19 with McGuire being arrested on Oct. 30…
