Over 500 West Virginians turned out on a recent Saturday for West Virginia Health Right’s “We Care WV Day” in Charleston. The event offered free vision, dental and medical services to anyone in need. Food service workers, hospitality employees, child care staff and convenience store clerks were among those who came out to get much-needed care.

While it has been over 10 years since the Affordable Care Act was enacted and West Virginia expanded Medicaid, sadly, the need is still great. Almost 158,000 West Virginians lost coverage when Medicaid unwound from COVID provisions — widening the gap in care for working poor West Virginians…
