BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) – Days before the end of 2024, the West Virginia First Foundation gave $10.4 million to 38 organizations across the mountain state. Those 38 organizations were recipients of the foundation’s initial opportunity grant (I.O.G.), which is part of WVFF’s ultimate goal to distribute $1 billion in state lawsuit settlement funds from opioid manufacturers.
“We’re just so excited that they (recipients) come from all walks of life, service providers throughout the continuum of care with real measurable outcomes baked in their applications and we’re just privileged to stand alongside,” said Jonathan Board, Executive Director of WVFF.
Board says organizations that did not get selected in the first round of the I.O.G. will have a second chance. Meanwhile, WVFF came into the new year with a new identity. Its new logo is an orange and Purple Monarch Butterfly, West Virginia’s state butterfly. The butterfly features two letter ‘F’s where the purple is representative of overdose and recovery awareness.
