PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — A school bus driver who crashed with a bus full of children on the way to school in Putnam County in April was driving under the influence, according to a 51-count indictment returned against her on Thursday.
Amy J. Allen, of Red House, was indicted on 28 counts of child neglect creating a substantial risk of serious bodily injury, 22 counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance causing bodily injury and one count of driving under the influence of a controlled substance with an unemancipated minor.
Child neglect creating a substantial risk of serious bodily injury is a felony that is punishable by one to three years in prison, while the remaining 23 counts are misdemeanor offenses.
According to the indictment, 28 students were on the bus who were all under the age of 16 when it crashed into a tree. Most of the children are students at George Washington Elementary and Middle School, officials previously said…
