LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Slow and steady, but also slipping and sliding, four drivers carefully squeezed past each other, inching towards the cleared Cane Run Road. Ice blanketed the road, some vehicles struggling to gain traction.
Deeper in the St. Denis neighborhood, Jim Duvall sat smoking a cigarette on his front porch Friday afternoon.
“This is what it looks like for a working class family,” he said. “You just gotta buckle down a little bit, take you an extra, an extra half hour, thirty minutes of getting there, get there safely, do what you gotta do to provide for your family, and get back home.”
