Citizen of the Week: Elizabeth Avett ‘led the charge’ to help those in need

Elizabeth Avett and a dedicated team of ladies from Dalton First United Methodist Church “went above and beyond to make this Christmas unforgettable for children and mothers in our community,” said Pamela Cudd, CEO of City of Refuge Dalton.

City of Refuge Dalton provides services to low-income families, including transitional housing, a food pantry, a clothing store, education programs for both children and adults, hot meals and a program that delivers food to senior citizens at their home.

“Mrs. Avett led the charge, coordinating a group of compassionate volunteers who provided a heartwarming brunch for families who have endured significant trauma in their lives,” Cudd said. “Under Mrs. Avett’s direction, the team worked tirelessly to secure generous donations from the Dalton Golf & Country Club, The Farm and other local supporters. These remarkable women rolled up their sleeves and served countless individuals during this special holiday event.”…
