Chesterfield schools adding vestibules as newest safety feature

CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT)—Chesterfield County Public Schools is adding vestibules to all CCPS that don’t already have them.

A vestibule is an enclosed waiting area or hallway with bulletproof glass at a school’s entrance. It has only two doors—the main door outside and a door to the office. The door on the inside is locked and only opens with a badge or by an administrator in the office.

While there are already many security features at their schools, including cameras, buzzers to get into the school and electronic locking systems—these vestibules will provide additional comfort to students’ families…
