RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT)—After years of obstacles, ground was finally broken on the future Highland Grove neighborhood on Dove St. in north Richmond.
A moment Greta Harris, the president and CEO of Better Housing Coalition, has been waiting decades for.
“Between the economic downturn, the great recession of 2008, 2009, 2010, a global pandemic and economic uncertainty, those are just the normal things any real estate development entity has to contend with,” she said.
Highland Grove will be a community made up of 125 single-family homes.
“Single family detached, duplexes and triplexes, so we have different sizes. We even have a one-story design for accessibility, which is a great need and difficult to find those homes in the city of Richmond,” Harris said.
