Frustrated Spiders fade away with missed 3s in 75-57 loss to Florida Gulf Coast

Frustration flowed after Florida Gulf Coast’s Tristen Guillouette pulled a defensive rebound away from the University of Richmond’s Jonathan Beagle, who kept up a lost battle following the whistle that signaled he fouled.

Beagle then stepped over Guillouette, down on the court, and his shoe scraped the prone Eagle. Not a good look for the Spiders, who at the time were trailing by 16 with 13 minutes left. Beagle was assessed a flagrant one foul.

The Spiders went about nine minutes without a field goal — the last seven of the first half and the first two of the second half — as FGCU accelerated to its double-digit lead. Before that, this was a close game, but it ended with a 75-57 FGCU win at the Robins Center on Saturday night…
