Miles Jordan

MILES JORDAN On August 24, 2024, at the age of 89, Miles Jordan, one of the great characters of Chico, shuffled off this mortal coil. Born October 13, 1934, in Clinton, Iowa, Miles came out West as a teen, first to Seattle, Washington, thenafter serving in the Korean War as a company clerk in the ARMYto Portland, Oregon, and the Liberal Arts program at Reed College. Miles eventually landed in San Francisco where he met Marilee, the love of his life who become his wife of 63 years. The first 17 years of their marriage were spent living in Mill Valley, until 1978, when the couple moved to Chico on a whim. In Chico, Miles established himself as a local musical taste-maker. He produced the much-loved “Blues People” radio show on KCHO; co-founded the Chico Jazz Society and Chico Blues Society; hosted many visiting artists; and for decades wrote energetic, honest, informed (and grammatically impeccable) album and concert reviews for the Chico News & Review as well as JazzTimes…..
