LOGAN — Officials from a handful of Hocking County towns and townships showed up to an informal meeting Wednesday evening at the Logan-Hocking County District Library, to receive some guidance from Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) on how to successfully win grants from the 2025 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.
The program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, provides money to the state, which then provides grants to counties and individual communities within them to support various types of community development projects in areas such as water and sewer; flood and drainage; parks and recreation, and street repair.
HAPCAP Community Development Coordinator Nathan Simons said the amount of funding a county gets in each grant cycle is based on how many of its residents are low- and moderate-income (LMI). “The poorer a county is, the more money that county receives,” he explained…
