Council revisits the difficult issue of township fire protection

LOGAN — A Green Township trustee and a Hocking County commissioner visited Logan City Council during its meeting last Tuesday, to discuss ongoing concerns about the rising cost to townships of fire protection from the city’s fire department.

John Fuller, who spoke at the meeting, is one of the trustees for Green Township, which, like Laurel and Falls townships, receives fire protection services from the Logan Fire Department. These townships recently have seen the contract price for these services rise dramatically, and are concerned with whether they will be able to afford the new rates.

The contracts lapsed at the end of last year but have reportedly not yet been renewed as the townships continue to grapple with the cost issue…
