Matters of Graves Importance: Seven Perspectives opening at Pump House Center

October is here! It is the month where pumpkins get more screen time than your favorite actors, spooky skeletons rise from dollar store bins, and everyone suddenly becomes a costume designer, even if last year’s outfit was just a bedsheet with eyeholes. Welcome to the month where everything is a trick or a treat, including my sanity. You don’t need a costume to attend the following fun, local events this weekend.

Thursday

The Pump House Center for the Arts October show, Seven Perspectives, opens tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sponsored by Hook’s Pizza, there will be pizza to snack on as you view works by local artists Betsy Parker, Rhonda Binkley, Judith Bohn, Bev Reiley, Judy Summers, Angie Terry, and Judy Weilbacher. The show will be open through the end of October. National Church Residences on 142 University Drive invites you to the grand opening of their Heritage Tranquil Garden with an Oktoberfest celebration featuring the German band Die Musikmeisters of Appalachia from 4 to 6 p.m. Schmidt’s food truck will be on site from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Moment of Clarity hosts their Very Extremely Open Mic at Prohibition at 7 p.m. The Cozy Inn Bar & Grill hosts Music Bingo at 6:30 p.m. and it is free to play. Head down to Jackson for trivia hosted by Carlin Hagerty at Stockroom601 at 7 p.m. Thanks for filling in for me buddy.
