Fire crews battle brush fire in Poway

SAN DIEGO — Fire crews battled a fast-moving brush fire on Monday afternoon in Poway in San Diego County and stopped the forward rate of spread. Officials and fire crews throughout the region have been on high alert in recent weeks as San Diego Gas & Electric is again enacting Public Safety Power Shutoffs to combat fire danger.

The fire was reported around 1:15 p.m. on Monday near Ted Williams Parkway and Pomerado Rd. Cal Fire San Diego assisted Poway Fire in battling the blaze and used two helicopters, two air tankers along with an air attack airplane.

Firefighters are monitoring hot spots and cut vegetation around the fire to ensure no further spread as of 4:45 p.m…
