San Diego remembers Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — On a day of remembrance and celebration, music and fellowship filled the space inside the World Beat Cultural Center in Balboa Park as dozens of people and families gathered to honor Martin Luther King Jr.

“We have to remember the struggles, because people sacrificed so much for the rights that we have today, and because the work is ongoing. We can’t forget, because we are still in it, we are still in the struggle,” said Christina Hsu Accomando, San Diego resident.

“The journey for social justice and equality and a more perfect union is a struggle. It takes time, we will get there. I want to work for a better America than today,” said Maria Corral Rocha, San Diego resident.

Musician, Pato Banton, greeted and performed for the crowd at Monday’s event and also reminded guests to never forget.
