CHICAGO — One man is dead and two others injured following a shooting near the Howard CTA station in Rogers Park on Wednesday afternoon, according to Chicago police. The shooting occurred on a block that has been the scene of several shootouts and shootings this year.
In a brief media statement, CPD said the three victims were on the sidewalk in the 1600 block of West Howard at 2:51 p.m. when someone began shooting at them from a passing car. Surveillance video reviewed by CWBChicago, however, shows three men were walking east on Howard Street when they got into a fight with each other and fell to the ground.
One of them, a 29-year-old man, never returned to his feet. He was pronounced dead at the scene. An 18-year-old man who was shot in the chest ran a short distance and collapsed near Gale Community Academy. CPD officers said they recovered a handgun from him.
