Historic Snowfall: Cincinnati’s winter storm one of biggest on record… more snow to come

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Greater Cincinnati is grappling with its largest two-day snowfall since 2008, with reports of 9 to over 11 inches of snow. It’s a historic amount — the seventh-largest two-day snowfall on record for Cincinnati.

Aurora topped the list of most snow with over 11 inches with the official total at CVG of 10.6 inches. The 8.4 inches at CVG on Sunday is a new daily record for the date, breaking the old record of 6.9 inches from 1977.

As temperatures drop into the teens and possibly single digits overnight, wind chills are expected to fall below zero. Although winds will not be as strong, they are still sufficient to cause blowing and drifting snow, particularly in outlying areas without natural windbreaks. Roads will still be hazardous, especially secondary and rural roads.

The cold weather is expected to persist, with lows potentially dipping into single digits or below zero over the next few nights. Highs may not rise above the teens by Thursday and Friday…
