Increased holiday travel brings traffic congestion to Cincinnati area

Addressing Congestion Amid I-471 Closure

A major issue affecting holiday travel in the region is the ongoing closure of southbound I-471 near the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge. This closure has led to significant congestion in downtown Cincinnati as well as in neighboring Newport and Covington. To alleviate the resulting traffic bottlenecks, ODOT has implemented adjusted signal timings on both sides of the Ohio River.
