FLINT, Michigan — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flint and Genesee County is gearing up for its 19th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Mentoring Inspiration Breakfast, a community tradition that honors Dr. King’s legacy through a celebration of mentorship, volunteerism, and service. Scheduled for Monday, Jan. 20, at St. Michael’s Conference Center in Downtown Flint, the event will begin at 9:00 a.m., with registration opening at 8:30 a.m.
This year’s program features James Avery, Genesee County Commissioner and CEO of Berston Field House, as the Master of Ceremony, and a keynote address from Flint native Mama Sōl, a celebrated artist and community advocate known for her inspirational performances and activism.
What began as a tribute to Dr. King’s vision of service has grown into a cornerstone event for National Mentoring Month, attracting over 100 supporters annually. The breakfast aligns with key mentoring milestones such as “I’m a Mentor Day” which took place on Jan. 9 and “Thank Your Mentor Day” which happens on Jan. 25.
